Curriculum Enrichment and Accelerated Program (CEAP) – Applications Now Open!

The college has developed a select entry Curriculum Enrichment and Accelerated Program (CEAP) that offers places to a limited number of very capable and committed students who are able to meet the academic rigours set by the program. Students will be accelerated through their coursework at a faster pace, providing them with a challenging learning environment. The enrichment component of the program encourages the study of more complex and abstract concepts, with a greater emphasis on higher order thinking skills.

Students undertaking CEAP at Years 7, 8 & 9 will be undertaking studies under the Victorian Curriculum Framework (F to 10), completing them with a strong extension and enrichment component.

At the end of Year 9, a decision on an appropriate pathway for each student will be reached.

Year 10 – students will undertake a mixture of Victorian Curriculum and extension work and Year 11 (VCE) Unit 1 and 2 studies.

Year 11 – students will undertake Unit 1 & 2 studies along with Year 12 (VCE) Unit 3 & 4 studies.

Year 12 – students will have the opportunity to undertake a combination of Unit 3 and 4 studies

For each Year 7 intake, one form group will make up the CEAP group and will remain in that group up until the end of Year 9 (provided they meet the requirements of the program as set by the College). During this time, students will be in the care of a form teacher, Year Level Coordinator, Learning Partner and the CEAP Coordinator.

  • June – placement request provided by Primary School. Your child’s primary school will need to submit to Craigieburn Secondary College a placement request to the college as part of the transition process
  • August/Sept – CEAP testing and Application Interviews
  • Sept/Oct- Placement into CEAP confirmation

CEAP classes run over years 7-9 and provide a tailored learning program for advanced learners. Acceptance into the program involves an application and assessment process which occurs bi-annually. The CEAP program responds to the needs of advanced learners by providing academic acceleration through extension in subject areas. The program provides learning enrichment opportunities through the use of an inquiry model. Our students are explicitly taught higher order thinking skills, develop an understanding of themselves as learners, and by the close of the program – are able to self-select the most suitable high impact learning strategies for themselves. CEAP students are encouraged to question and investigate, becoming the ‘drivers’ of their learning. Through teacher facilitation, CEAP students gain the skills to research, inquire and apply knowledge in a variety of contexts, preparing them for best learning practices as they enter their senior years.

The CEAP program continues to evolve and respond to best practice advice from the DET. During the 2023 year the program design process will focus on current pedagogy and preparation for future support programs the DET will be releasing through Virtual Schools Victoria. These programs are specifically designed to provide additional learning platforms and experiences for students with high abilities.
