Craigieburn Secondary College endeavours to create a learning environment where every student can achieve their fullest potential. We aim to promote confident learners who are curious and creative who can solve problems using a variety of tools. As part of this commitment, the college is integrating the use of student laptop computers into the classrooms and the embedding of digital literacy and e-learning practices across all key learning areas. Students at the college will become effective global learners in multiple real and virtual arenas.<\/p>\n

The Laptop Program will provide a wealth of rich educational resources and tools, that when used effectively, will deliver very positive teaching and learning outcomes. Each student will have a laptop that will link them to their teachers, learning communities, multimedia software, email communication, Compass system and online tools & resources.<\/p>\n

With the network connected device, students will have enhanced communication opportunities with their teachers and peers. This will allow the student to seek feedback regarding learning opportunities and activities, participate in synchronous and asynchronous learning and have anywhere, anytime access to documents, projects, revision tasks and evidence of their learning. The Laptop program will create expanded learning opportunities that are active and student-centred.<\/p>\n

The Department of Education and Training (DET) recommends appropriate and safe use of their student allocated laptops. The college\u00a0ICT & Acceptable Use Policy<\/a>\u00a0aims to provide information about the policies and guidelines that inform the proper use and care of the student laptops. It highlights potential issues and expectations of laptop use, as through the use of explicit guidelines, advice and support, the exposure of students to potential problems can be minimised.<\/p>\n

The laptop program at Craigieburn Secondary College creates expanded learning opportunities that are more active, and student centred. It provides a wealth of rich educational resources and tools, that when used effectively, will deliver very positive teaching and learning outcomes. Every student is expected to have a laptop.<\/p>\n

Students have the choice to bring your own device (BYOD) or access the college co-contribution scheme regardless of the scheme your choice to access the college laptop program an\u00a0ICT & Acceptable Use Policy<\/a>\u00a0will be given to students, parents\/carers to discuss, sign and return to the school administration.<\/p>\n

All laptops are networked that will link them to their teachers, learning communities, multimedia software and with online tools and resources, email communication, and Compass system.<\/p>\n

PERSONAL COMPUTING OPTIONS\u00a0<\/strong><\/h5>\n

To meet the above stated vision and objectives, the College has three available personal computing options, each with their own strengths and weaknesses.<\/p>\n

  1. Purchase recommended device from JB Education (potential delays due to supply issues)<\/li>\n
  2. Bring your own device (BYOD)<\/li>\n
  3. Co-contribution.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
    Purchase device through JB Education<\/strong><\/h5>\n

    The College has entered into a purchasing agreement with JB Education. Devices can be purchased directly through the JB education online portal, at a group discounted price and delivered to the College. To connect to the College network, the device media access control (MAC) address must be provided to the ICT technicians and the device must be enrolled in the College\u2019s In Tune (Microsoft device management) portal.<\/p>\n

    Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)<\/strong><\/h5>\n

    Students may bring any device to school, that meets the specified requirements. To connect to the College network, the device media access control (MAC) address must be provided to the ICT technicians and the device must be enrolled in the College\u2019s InTune (Microsoft device management) portal.<\/p>\n

    \n\u25aa All costs including damage and warranty covered by family<\/p>\n

    Please note that our school does not have insurance to cover accidental damage to students\u2019 devices, and parents\/carers are encouraged to consider obtaining their own insurance for their child\u2019s device.<\/p>\n
