We are excited to bring you the latest edition of the college newsletter! As we move through the school year, we are proud to showcase school events, year level and student achievements, and stories from around our campus. We are extremely proud to share the incredible work happening in our classrooms and beyond. We acknowledge the Indigenous lands, waters, and gathering places on which we live, learn, and thrive. We value the commitment and knowledge of Indigenous peoples, and we honour their teachings from the past that now inform our future. We pay our respects to all Elders of the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation and extend that same respect to Elders of other Indigenous communities with us today. As a college, we make a commitment to taking a step forward in reconciliation and to the preservation of Indigenous cultures in Australia.
Newsletter Extract: A Message from the Principal Team
Dear CSC Community,
As we come to the end of Term 3, I would like to reflect on the many achievements, celebrations and experiences that have brought our community together over the past ten weeks.
The Spring Concert was a wonderful showcase of the talent, creativity and confidence of our student performers. Our LOTE Day celebrations, led by the Languages team, also provided students with an opportunity to celebrate the languages and cultures represented across our diverse college community. I thank the staff and students whose enthusiasm and hard work made both events so successful.
Learning beyond the classroom has continued to enrich our students’ experiences. Our VCE VM students participated in numerous excursions throughout the term, including visits to Melbourne Museum, which allowed them to connect their classroom learning with the wider community.
Term 3 has also been a particularly significant time for our Year 12 students. The Year 12 Formal was a memorable celebration of their friendships and shared journey, while Pyjama Day provided an opportunity to enjoy one of the lighter traditions of their final year. At the same time, students have been making important decisions about life beyond school. I would like to acknowledge the outstanding work of our Pathways team in supporting Year 12 students with tertiary applications and helping them explore the many education, training and employment pathways available to them.
It was also a privilege to come together as a community for our Years 7–12 awards ceremonies. These events allowed us to recognise the dedication and achievement of our high-performing academic students. I congratulate every award recipient and thank their families, teachers and peers for the encouragement and support that have contributed to their success.
As the term concludes, I thank our students, staff, families and carers for the energy, commitment and partnership they continue to bring to our college. I wish everyone a safe and restful holiday break and look forward to welcoming our community back for the final term of the year.

Absence Communication
Reporting Absences: Use Compass, email, or call 9308 1144 to provide reasons and estimated return dates.
Automated Absent Messages: Parents receive text messages at 10 AM and 3 PM for absences.
Weekly Unexplained Absence Emails: Unexplained absences trigger Monday emails via Compass.
Bi-termly Unexplained Absence Emails: DET require staged response unexplained absence emails generated to provide reasons for absences via Compass.
Bi-termly Attendance Rate Emails: Overall School and VCE percentage attendance rates generated to keep you on track.
Termly: Assistant Principal generated ‘Nudge Letters’ – demonstrating a students’ attendance trajectories.
Attendance Expectations:
DET requires a 90% attendance rate for student success.
School events and sports days are compulsory.
The ‘2-hour rule’ means students must attend at least two hours in the morning and afternoon to be marked present.
Managing Lateness & Truancy
Chronic lateness can lead to disengagement! Unexplained lateness results in Compass emails and demerits. Truancy notifications are sent if students are out of class without permission.
Support for Attendance Concerns:
Students with attendance below 90% will receive, Compass alerts, support plans, and school interventions.
Chronic absenteeism may involve DET referrals for further support.

SWPBS Silver to Gold Accreditation
We are proud to announce that Craigieburn Secondary College has achieved GOLD Accreditation in School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS)! This milestone reflects our commitment to fostering a 
positive school culture where all students feel supported to learn and succeed.
At CSC, our core values of Belonging, Respect, Growth, and Understanding are at the heart of everything we do. Through SWPBS, we have strengthened our focus on clear expectations, positive reinforcement, and the merit acknowledgment system to celebrate students who demonstrate these values every day.
Earning Silver Accreditation means we have strong systems in place to support student wellbeing, behaviour, and learning, but our journey doesn’t stop here! We will continue working towards Gold Accreditation, ensuring Craigieburn remains a place where every student feels a sense of belonging, is treated with respect, grows in their learning, and understands their role in our school community.
